The sweet, warm fragrance of waffles baking on a weekend morning is one that many of us remember fondly. With this classic chrome waffle maker from Cuisinart, you'll make waffles like Mom used to--but, even better, your new waffle maker will have nonstick surfaces and a European regulating thermostat to ensure the first waffle of the batch is as crisp as the last. For convenient storage, wrap the cord around the base and store on end. Included is a recipe book with your basic waffle recipe and yummy variations, such as whole-wheat pecan waffles. --Dana Van Nest

each time. And it is a COMPLETELY NON-STICK APPARATUS that gives up the waffles with no problems. You can pluck 'em right off with a fork and to the plate, in perfect condition. What I do, is I make my first waffle, plate it, pour the second and then lift the first up onto the top of the unit. As the second waffle gives of copious steam, and the iron is now VERY HOT (be careful), placing the first waffle on top keeps it nice and warm. Remarkable!!
Also, the color indicated timer is great. When the setting is on 4, and that light turns green you know that your
waffle is right where you want it to be.
I tried adding a few Grape Nuts to the mix, with interesting
results. Soon, I will be pouring eggs into the iron in my
first experiment intended on cooking the world's first
"Wafflet". Get it? :-)
I liked it so much I bought my parents one shortly after I bought mine. Theirs may not get as much use as mine, but it's still going strong and they love it as well.
The base plate is attached with self-tapping screws two screws missed their mounting bosses at manufacturing plant assembly in china, one problem of having assembly out of control.
The nonstick and baking properties of this product are very good, temperature control is iffy. KHN
Only downside was the requirement to clean it without emersing the non-removable plates.
Unfortunately by mid 2007, I'd frequently find my waffles sticking in the iron (and peeling off with holes): Over time, more and more 'brushing off' of old material was failing to remove all of the material. Leaving a consistent pattern of 'sticky' non-stick. Also by then I had a wife and son to share my waffles with, and producing single-serving waffles one at a time was no longer optimal. :D
So in 2005 I replaced the old Cusinart with a Black & Decker G48TD Grill and Waffle Maker . The B&G churns out at least twice the surface area of waffles per 5min pass, and so far, six years later, is still holding tight to it's non-stick coating. In addition, the B&G's plates come off for trips to the sink for washing. :)
On reflection, I guess five years is a reasonable run for a modern appliance. But I'm also sort of spoiled using my Grandmother and Great Aunt's old appliances which were designed to last a lifetime. Especially when I take out and use my Great Grandmother's cast-iron pans, which still are 100% non-stick after over 100 years. :D
